How is space set up?

Our typical set up will be a floor-level “stage” marked by a 5x7 rug in front of a wall of shelves with a globe light overhead. Alternative setups and immersive experiences are welcome, just note that in your application and we’ll set up a time to walk through the space.
There will be two 3-top cafe tables, one 4-top table, one 6-top tables, four bar stools, and two couches, along with some side lounge chairs. People are welcome to stand during performances as well.
What is the capacity?

What is service style?

Order at the counter, the food is brought to your seat. Order more via QR codes at your seat. Bus your table yourself.
Can people reserve spots?

Right now, we’re first come first serve.
Can I load in early?

The bookstore is open on Saturdays, so we try not to disrupt shoppers before 6pm. But, let’s talk — we can accommodate early set up on a case-by-case basis.
Can I sell things?

Artist merch, zines, handmade items, etc. are welcome. You keep 100% of merch sales. We ask that you don’t pitch or sell services to the audience during your performance. This is an ad-free space. You’re welcome to leave out a tip jar/Venmo QR code for attendees to pay you directly.
How is the night documented?

Performers are responsible for their own documentation. With time, we hope to be able to have a videographer and/or photographer documenting the evening.
How does compensation work?

Performers get a free meal + 10% of sales from the evening, and are welcome to display their Venmo/Cashapp, sell merch, and/or have a tip jar.
What counts toward the 10%?

Anything sold by Aida’s or Two Friends between 7 and 11pm on the day of your performance. This includes wine, beer, coffee, food, books, etc. You keep 100% of sales of merch or artwork you bring.
But like, how much can I expect?

Attendance and sales are hard to predict in a small town like ours, and can vary wildly from week to week. Please invite your friends and fans! It could be anywhere from a couple dollars if we only sell a beer or two, up to a hundred if we pack it out with hungry people. We don’t expect to do more than $1,000 in sales per evening based on historical data and capacity, but it’d be cool if we did. Please only apply if this unpredictability works for you.
What if there are multiple acts per night?

The percentage will be split equally between performers.
When will I get paid?

Within a day or two of your performance, as we need a bit of time to tally sales. We prefer electronic transfer; if you request a check, it could take up to 10 days.
Is there a limit on the free food and drink?

Yes, while we won’t be counting pennies, try to think of it like a $40 credit toward food and drink per person, per evening.
